Advent and Candles

Advent is a season of preparation. Advent candles are symbols which help us to reflect and prepare for the birth of Christ - the true meaning of Christmas.

There are four (4) candles lit during Advent, leading up to the Christ candle which is lit on Christmas. The first candle symbolizes Hope. The second candle is Love. The third candle is Joy. The fourth candle is Peace. The Christ candle represents the birth of Christ.

In different religions the symbolism can be different for the candles. The colors of the candles differs, too. Typically the first three candles are purple and the fourth candle, Joy, is typically pink. The Christ candle is white, and in the center of the other four.

Gift Baskets

We will be collecting items for Grace-Street Ministry gift baskets until Sunday, December 20. Please consider making a donation to make life of on the street a bit more bearable this month. Our goal is to create two (2) full baskets to present to Pastor Mair for her to distribute.

Suggested items: nice cheese, crackers, jam, candies, chocolates, lip protector, dark gloves, Dunkin Donuts card, boxes of tea or coffee.
